School Gate Hours

These gates are opened daily by  5:00 a.m. and locked at 9:00 p.m. {unless otherwise noted} or the conclusion of scheduled activities, whichever is later:

Bayview Elementary

  1. Gate at driveway north side of building


Paul J. Bellew Elementary

  1. Gate at driveway south side of building
  2. Walk gate at softball field off Higbie Lane


West Islip High School

  1. Gate on Lions Path
  2. Gate on Barberry Road (arrival and dismissal; events as designated by District)
  3. Walk gate at Willets Creek Bridge to Edmore Lane (rear of high school)
  4. Walk gate at Barberry Road

Beach Street Middle School

  1. Gate at driveway off of Sherman Avenue
  2. Walk gate at North side of school
  3. Walk gate at Willets Creek Bridge to Burling Lane (rear of school)


Oquenock Elementary

  1. Gate at north side of school
  2. Gate at south side of school


Manetuck Elementary

  1. Gate at main driveway
  2. Walk gate at Harvest Lane 

Udall Road Middle School

  1. Gate at main driveway off Udall Road
  2. Walk gate at Fairfax Avenue
  3. Gate at Cadman Road


Higbie Lane Center

  1. Walk gate at Lawn Avenue (this gate is opened by 5:00 a.m. on school days only and locked at 9 p.m. or the conclusion of scheduled activities, whichever is later) 


Captree Elementary

  1. Gate at entrance to rear parking lot. 

These gates are opened briefly on school days only to accommodate student and staff traffic and should not be used by the general public. The district reserves the right to open and close these gates as needed:

West Islip High School

  1. Gate on Ogden Road
  2. Gate on DuBois Road 


Udall Road Middle School

  1. Gate to rear of building

Manetuck Elementary

  1. Walk gate at Boulevard Avenue
  2. Walk gate at Webster Avenue
  3. Walk gate to Our Lady of Lourdes


Westbrook Elementary

  1. Walk gate at Madison Street (rear of property)

Gates to the main playgrounds at each elementary school:

  • School days: Open after school dismissal and closed at dusk
  • Non-school days, including weekends and holidays: Open in the morning and closed at dusk
