Students on the waiting list will also have the option to attend the 16 July lecture classes noted above, and then complete their 16 driving lessons on 16 different dates in August. We will contact you after registration if this pertains to you.

Lecture classes meet 4 times per week for 4 weeks. Therefore, all students must be available to commit themselves to ninety minutes of lecture AND 90 minutes of driving four days a week for four weeks. No absences are permitted. Students and parent/guardians should thoroughly discuss this commitment and attendance policy prior to registering for DE program. MV-285 (Certificate of Completion) document must be kept in a secure location. Replacement certificates from the DMV are a lengthy process.

What is the absence policy?

Per New York State DMV, a student must attend ALL hours of the program in order to receive the “Student Certificate of Completion” (MV 285). The DE certified instructor is forbidden by NYS law from issuing the MV-285 to anyone who has not met the minimum attendance requirements. Students must make arrangements to attend all classes. It is the student's responsibility to make sure absences will NOT occur. Parental notes DO NOT excuse absences from classes. A Certificate of Completion will NOT be issued to ANY student in the event of missed classes or to those who do not pass the course.

We anticipate the MV-285 Certificate of Completion's will be in the mail by August 16, 2025 for students who successfully complete and pass the July program.
